WHEN AND WHERE DID THE HOLIDAY FIRE START:

The Holiday Fire is reported to have begun around 8:45 p.m., on July 6, 2018, in the 1500 block of Holiday Hill Road in Goleta, CA. The fire destroyed 19 structures, including 10 homes, and burned over 100 acres.

WHAT CAUSED THE HOLIDAY FIRE:

Early news reports stated there were reports of downed powerlines, and a falling tree limb coming into contact with a powerline near the origin of the fire. Our initial investigation and interviews with witnesses confirms that there were downed powerlines in the area. We are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
